EX 6200 extender and a Samsung Smart TV

I have a new Sansung Smart TV which is located downstairs from my computer router.  I purchased an EX 6200 extender to ensure that I have a strong wireless signal downstairs.  When I connect my TV to a wireless provider it identifies my router from upstairs with a poor signal, it also identifies the extender wireless networks with much stronger signals.  When I try to connect the extender with the password from my router it does not accept it.  The manual says to use my main router password. I brought my IPad downstairs and connected the extender wireless without any problem.  Why can I not connect my TV to the extender using "my network name_2GEXT" ?  It allows me to connect to my router with password but a poorer signal.

Thanks

  • This is just a guess but your TV may not have support for the wireless security used by the extender.  If the extender is using WPA2-PSK [AES], try switching it to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] or even WPA-PSK [TKIP].
