I powered down all my PCs, my switches and the range extender.
Then I reset my modem.
When I powered everything back up again, the range extender worked just fine, and so did my wired network.
I'm guessing I forced an IP address change that fixed the problem.

Did you make sure you have updated the extender to the latest firmware? also you may want to try and reserve the Ip address of the extender in the router.
