Did you contact NETGEAR at any point? There was a 1 year hardware warranty, but it sounds like you may have past that.. But if you have case numbers from before hand they might be able to help you.

Jul 01, 2017No, I didn't contact Netgear because it is not a hardware issue. This is a well documented firmware problem (check how many closed threads there are). I missed the seller's (Best Buy) return window for refund. Warranty would only get me a refurb replacement....with the same faulty firmware.

Anyone from Netgear care to weigh in as to why this was never addressed through a firmware update?
I've now bought two AmpedWireless extenders to replace both of the Netgear extenders I have. Installation went smoothly on both, connection is better, and signal is far stronger.
