EX6120 range extender does not restart after power outage

When our electrical power experiences an interruption, my cable modem/router (Xfinity) restarts.  But my range extender does not reconnect to the network. It finds the network only after being unplugged and plugged back in again.

This is a problem since devices connecting via the range extender need to be accessed remotely - and a power outage renders them inaccessible until I return home.

    It should auto-connect. Mine do.

but it could be a timing issue. If the router isn't booting up quickly enough and the extender times out while searching for the router, maybe that's why its needing the reboot? (never ran into the issue so guessing).

what firmware is on the extender?

did you set it up using wps or using the installation assistant?

got a cheap smart power plug so you could just remotely turn on/off the outlet? (work around method)

  • I have a newer Comcast router. My EX6120 Eifi Extender will not auto reconnect after a power outage. Even after the power is restored, it will not reconnect unless I unplug it, and plug it back in. Then it reconnects. I obviously can't do this when I'm not home, and my outdoor cameras (that work fine with the extenders) are disconnected until I come home and unplug and re-plug the extenders. Less than desirable. Any help is appreciated.
