EX6150v2 slow speed

I have EX6150v2 connected as AP to Cox modem (Arris TG1682G, firmware TG1682COX_3.14p10s_PROD_sey) which I have download speed of 150mbs connected with ethernet and with 5G when close to the modem/router.  However, connecting to the EX5150v2 AP, the best download speed I can get is usually half at 70mbs if I'm next to the AP.  How can I improve the download speed on the AP?  Would using the EX6150 as extender instead of AP improve download speed? Besides more devices being able to connect to AP, are there benefits to using the EX6150v2 as extender instead of AP?  Thank you.

  • Firmware on the EX6150?

Are you testing over 2.4ghz or 5ghz?

have you tried changing the ethernet cable? Maybe move the extender next to the router and use a known 6ft cable to ensure it isn't a cable issue?

Have you tried changing the 5ghz wifi channel?

I couldn't access the EX6150 to tell which firmware I had.  However, I plugged it directly into the router with a different cable, I was able to get the proper download speed.  Probably,  the cable in my wall is bad.  I was using both 2.5 and 5ghz.  Thanks for the prompt reply.
