Ex6200 as AP wifi connectivity issues
So i have an EX6200 wifi range extender configured as an AP. I have an ethernet connection directly to my router about 100 or so ft away. For xbox and my smart TV i used a wired connection to the AP w...
The backhaul connection to the router is clearly ok (otherwise the xbox and the smart tv would be having problems).
Is the issue a connection issue or a performance issue? That is, are the clients disconnecting from the extender wifi network? Or does it remains connected, but you are seeing web page timeouts, stalled downloads or media streams, etc. If there's only one wifi client connected, then the "device to extender led" is a simple way to confirm the connection.
Also, is this a new setup? If not, was this working correctly before?
- The clients are being dropped. When i connect to the wifi i am able to browse for a minute or two and then it drops.
I originally had it configured as an extender, which worked fine, but it was causing too much latency on the router itself. I decided to run a cable and set up as an AP. This is when i started seing issues with connectivity to the AP’s wifi networks.You can check the connectivity by connecting with a cell phone or tablet and going to a speed test site - see what speed you get close to the AP and then walk away and see if it drops off. There are also phhone apps available that will show you the Wi-Fi signal strength (I use WiFi Analyzer on Android) that will allow you to see your network versus other networks.
