EX7000 2.4GHz band issue
My wifi output power is set at 100%. On placing the Extender in the room next to the router R7000P, I obtain almost 99% of the speed (48Mbps) on 5GHz band from the router. But on the 2.4GHz band in t...
many things impact wireless performance. The 2.4ghz band broadcasts further and through more things but its inherently slower than 5ghz. it is also more sensitive to interference because it does broadcast further and because there's less channels available.
the other thing to keep in mind is that extenders also reduce your speed and increase your latency by the very nature of how they work. they have to receive and restransmit a signal. this causes the reduced speed and increased latency.
a couple things you can try though:
1. move the extender. hvac and other materials within walls can block signals. Sometimes moving slightly can help
2. try different wifi channels. maybe the one you're on has interference. 1-6-11 is recommended in the 2.4ghz range.
3. Try a different device. Maybe its your device that's limited. Not all wireless devices have great chipsets. You don't put what you're testing with.
4. Check your firmware. You didn't put what your firmware version is for your device. You're on?
5. What speeds do you get with the 2.4ghz connected to the router?
6. Check into the fastlane setup. it uses one of the radios just for talking to the router. this helps negate the effects of the basic nature of wireless extenders.
