EX7000 extending network that has a proxy

Hello Everyone,

I have an EX7000. I live in an apartment building. The provided WiFi  uses a proxy.

To describe, this is how I gain access to the internet.

I find the SSID. I select it and enter the password to connect.

Once connected, a separate window pops up with a logon screen for the proxy. Once I log into that, I gain access to the internet.

I have followed the EX7000 Smart Setup. I find the networks for both 2G and 5G, input their required SSID passwords, add my own password then continue. The unit reboots and I see the newly named connections in a list but when I try to connect it says there's no internet connect and has the little exclamation point thought the wifi signal symbol and I cannot access the extender setup page anymore.

Separately, I decided to do the Setup again, using the option to keep the same name and password, and it sort of seemed to work. I was able to re-connect to the extender and it informed me that it was successful.

I don't want it set up this way.

I am not sure what to do. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thor

If there's a proxy, you don't need an extender. You need a router/extender that supports wisp mode. standard extenders like the ex7000 doesn't.

Most routers don't even have a wisp mode. A lot of travel routers support a wisp mode.

      Hello there!

      Thanks for writing!

I got the extender because the wifi signal is weak where I live. So how do I solve that and the proxy issue?

What device would you recommend then?

      Best,

      Thor

Again, you need a device that supports wisp mode.

        standard extenders done.

So look for either a router that supports wisp mode or a lot of travel routers do.

The only one from netgear that supports it is super old and not worth the $.
