EX7300 Won't Connect on 5GHz Band
Just received this today. Installation went okay, but no clients will attach to 5GHz band, and I tried four different ones --desktop, laptop, tablet, phone. I can see the 5GHz EXT just fine, but not...
Okay, so this is now resolved. First it got worse --the EX7300 wouldn't connect to the Comcast modem (latest DOCSIS 3 Comcast modem supporting 250MB/s service) on the 5GHz band at all. After a few reboots of the Comcast modem/router, it appears the Comcast wireless router spontaneously (I didn't do it) switched the channels it was broadcasting on. Was previously 36(p) + 44 + 48 on 5GHz. Now it's broadcasting 5GHz on 149 + 153 + 157(p) + 161. . . and that seems to have caused a miraculous healing. Now the EX7300 will not only connect to the modem/wireless router on 5GHz, it's allowing clients to connect to the EX7300 5GHz band with a strong connection and great speeds. Showing 1299MB/s in GENIE, and speedtest.net just gave me well over 150MB/s connecting to the 5GHz band on the EX7300.
So, problem solved for now. Still don't know where the real culprit was (Comcast's modem/wireless router or Netgear's extender), but forcing the channels to change on the 5GHz band from the modem/router solved it.

Sadly, no.
But I have a work around, that's a little clunky but useable --force the underlying router to change channels on the 5Ghz band.
This only gets to be an issue because it's summer and we have weather where I live and sometimes the router takes a power hit and when it reboots it might change the channels. This is Comcast's top-of-the-line DOCSIS 3.0 router I have.
When the 5GHz band on that is using channel 36 as the primary, it doesn't play well with the EX7300. That is true as well with the newest version of the firmware I installed.
When I force the router thru reboots to change channels to something other than 36(p) then it's okay. No problems on 2.4Ghz.
I have mobiles with wifi analyzer apps, and they don't find any competing local 5GHz networks overlapping that might explain it. The Netgear EX7300 just doesn't like it when the Comcast wireless router is on 36(p) for 5GHz.
I've since put a UPS on the router (which isn't a bad idea anyway around here), so hopefully I'll get less "spontaneous router reboot changing of channels" to put me into trouble with this issue.
But whatever is causing it, whichever side is at fault, the newest firmware doesn't do anything about it, in my experience.
