EX8000 in AP Mode Will Access Control Work?

I'm considering the EX8000 mesh extender to use with an existing NON-NETGEAR router via ETHERNET CABLE.   I would like to set this in access point mode.  In Access Point mode, can I use MAC filtering and Access Control?  I've had HORRIBLE experience with Nighthawk r8000 and newer firmware upgrades disabling this feature when in AP mode.  HORRIBLE support assistance from netgear, wanting $50 to help me when their firmware upgrades suck and disabled features that led me to purchase this in the first place.

Also, if I use the EX8000 in AP mode, will I lose the tri-band functionality as one band is used for fast-lane access?  I'll be connecting this via ETHERNET CABLE and not wi-fi.

The ex8000 will use all three bands while in ap mode but the access control and mac filtering will be handled by your router.

Sorry, but this does not answer my question.  I wish to use the EX8000 to do MAC filtering and Access Control while in AP mode.  Will it do that or are these options grayed out when in AP mode?  I'm using a DSL modem and do not want to use that for MAC filtering.
