Failed to obtain IP address EX6250

I have installed an EX6250 and have a problem accessing an IP address on every wireless device in my house (2 cell phones, 2 laptops, and 1 Chromebook).

The initial connection seems to work, but if I leave the network area and return, it fails to obtain an IP address. No other devices can obtain an IP address. When I install with the One-Wifi name option, no wifi devices can connect to the wifi. When I install with unique name for the extender, devices connect to the main wifi, but not the extender wifi.

I have done the following to try to solve this issue:

- Updated firmware to 1.0.0.124

- Factory reset

- Fresh install

I'm ready to return and go with another product. Suggestions?

  • Check into your router and what issues it has with extenders. Not all routers work well with extenders or they need to set static addresses to extenders. The router is what's assigning ip addresses. the extender is just the go between.

If its the router causing the issue, buying a different extender isn't going to fix the problem.

    what router are you using?

Replaced the old Actiontec router with an Arris NVG468MQ. Setup with the Arris virtual WPS button and the extender is working as advertised.
