Have a WN300RP and haven't ever updated the firmware and now get the downloaded file open.

My wifi extender WN3000RP has never really performed well consistently.  I haven't ever down loaded any firmware updates.  I am trying it now.  I can down load the file.  Unzip it.   But when I try to open the file, it tells me there's no program associated witht he .chk file.   That's as far as I can get.  What am I missing?   How do I get the downloaded file to execute?

When I try to access mywifiext.net, it asks for user name and password.  I tried my Netgear user name and password with no luck.   What am I suppose to use?   I'm stumped.

You don't execute it on your computer.  You have to upload it using the firmware updater on the WN3000RP.

There's a procedure for recovering a forgotten username and password (here).  If that fails, you can always reset the extender to factory settings.
