Help! Nighthawk X6S AC3000 will not connect to wifi

I have had this problem 2x now. We returned the last extender and got a new one but it is STILL having the issue. I've been on the phone with Netgear and Spectrum multiple times and NO ONE understands what's happening. Basically, I set up the extender, I connect to the wifi, everything seems to connect fine. I connect to the extender's wifi and no internet. I connect to the modem and internet works just fine. I have reset and reconnected multiple times.

I should also point out that with the extender, we can connect to some things on the internet, but not all. For example, I can look "cats" up on google and it will load the same search results either way. I can even load Wikipedia's page, but not IMDb's page. (Connected to the modem, all pages load just fine). EXCEPT when I am hardlined into the extender. My laptop is hardlined in the extender and I can load anything I want. I am so confused and no one has been able to help me. I've heard great things about this extender, but this is such a pain in the butt, it doesnt feel worth it! Please please please can someone help us figure this out?

Things we've tried:
Resetting the extender
Resetting the router
Opening new channels in the router
Changing the dns on the extender to 8.8.8.8.
Turning off the extender and modem at the same time

Have you tried hardwiring the extender into the modem/router and running it in access point mode to see if it works?

What gateway are you using from spectrum?

Have you tried connecting the EX8000 to a different router and seeing if it works? Maybe it isn't an extender issue.

did you set it up via wps or using the installation wizard?

I do think it is something to do with the router. When I searched the specific router (its one of the Wave 2 models), I found 1 forum discussion talking about an issue with the router. Someone said that you can use mac filtering to fix it, but I went through the steps to do that, and still doesnt work. But that definitely feels like the problem.
