How do I increase 2.4ghz connections
I have Wifi with cox using their router (Technicolor CGM4141)
. it has dual band 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I have Amazon Alexa and every light switch in my house is wifi enabled but they are all 2.4ghz and I'm at the max the router can support(This is what customer support has told me and it seems to be the case if I try to connect another switch to the 2.4 it just freezes and can't connect). I have separated the bands and after 10 it just won't seem to connect anymore. Should I get an access point? What is the solution to have all my devices connected? I think an Access point will help but I'm not positive. Any help is appreciated.

You could go several routes.
1. get a router and run it in access point mode. that'd give you a backup router if you ever needed on
2. you can just go with an access point. they work well but some don't have a router mode.
3. you could use a wireless extender. Either in extender mode or in access point mode.
4. you could upgrade to a mesh system. You could put the cox router in modem only mode and use the mesh system to both provide better coverage and more connections.
