How to connect R8000p to EX8000 using wired ethernet connection?

Hi guys,

 

I want to connect my Nighthawk router X6S (R8000P) to my Nighthawk X6S Extender (EX8000P) using wired ethernet connection.

 

I believe that a wired connection would have the best speeds for devices connected to the extender. I will also use the extender to connect IP cameras.

    I believe i found the answer by setting up the extender as an access point.

     

    My question now is: Could I use the same name for the access point as the router?

      You can use the same name but it won't function as a "mesh" device. The mesh function only works in extender mode. 

      What that means is it won't roam the same. devices will tend to be "sticky" and stay connected to 1 device until they loose signal or you disconnect/reconnect.
