how to Port forward for IP camera with a WN3000RP?

Forwarding is done on router and not on extender.

Thanks, forwarding on the router was done and worked when the camera is in range of the wireless network. But it is located at the edge of the network and the extender is needed.

But none of the laptops or phones in the house will connect to the extender and then connect to the internet. After getting past the earlier "obtaining IP" problem, and now after connecting, the laptop only gets limited connectivity.

The laptops won't connect to the internet. So I can'r configure the the camera wireless to connect to the extender.

The message when the browser fails is the extender doesn't have a valid IP address, and I haven't found a way to get it. Tried Safari, Chrome and Microsoft IE, doesnt matter

x10 Airsight interior wireless camera.
SMC wireless router provided by cable company, static IP for camera was forwarded ok.
Dell, Toshiba, Acer laptops with XP or Vista

So what am i missing or need to do?

From the sound of it, your problem lies with getting the extender functional - rather than port forwarding.

The "limited" connectivity message is a result of Windows being unable to get an ip address from the DHCP server - either the clients are not communicating with the extender or the extender is not communicating with the router.

Ok, so why doesn't windows give it an address? The house router works for iPods, iPads, all phones, Xbox 360, the x10 Airsight and multiple laptops.

Is there way the extender can force it? Or do I need to do something from the house Dlink-524?

IF I don't solve this, I will have to take the extender back to the store.

Have no idea where the extender has tested etc. Don't place the location you are wanted to work. Get it work 10ft or less line sight such as same room and first if extender is connecting

moved the extender to line of sight, still wont connect. still limited connectivity, no ip address.

I am at a loss of what to do next.:(

You mean by extender does not connect or wifi has no ip?

You did test with static on PC or somethig that is connecting to extender as well?

the extender connects to pc, but pc can't get to internet. The extender has limited connectivity.

I went back and did another search on trouble shooting connectivity issues and found a post about WEP encrypted routers with the passphrase being not the passphrase in some routers, and to use the password in the Key 1 slot instead of the passphrase slot.

I had previously set the password to the passphrase, clicked "generate", the wizard generated a set of Keys for it, but they weren't working. So when I set the password as key 1 and did not click "generate", so the extender used the password in Key 1 and it worked.

I reset the extender, used the password in Key 1 instead of passphrase, and it worked. Something so simple. The documents for the extender do not explain that.

WEP is hex code so using generated key is basic
