I cannot set up my wifi Extender

Purchased this extender from Takealot.  Returned the first one after lengthy phone calls with Netgear call center who deemed it faulty.  The second one delivered and is doing exactly the same thing.  The Extender light will not go on (unit is 10cms from the primary router).  The Genie will not go further than the "continue" page (tick box) and then drops to Username and Password again (I do not get to any registration etc).  I have tried everything.  I have done at least 7 factory resets and forget the network blah blah.  It simply refuses to connect to the Router.  The Device light, WPS light and On light all run properly. (My primary is a Huawei fiber router)

Guess you talk of the "Router Link LED", the top left one. Well, that one would not come on before the device is "paired" successfully. During the set-up, beond of the power and WPA LED, only the DEvice Led (the right one on top) is lit - because you connect with the computer direct to the extender.

What computer system, which Web browser, .... and any potentially intusive (or destructive Internet) "Security" packages in place?

Yes, all the lights come on (device light is lit when ethernet is in play or I use Ipad or cellphone to try to connect to the extender.  We have Google Chrome and Windows 10 and we therefore cannot use Explorer 8 as was suggested previously.  I have mcafee loaded on my laptop.
