Is N300 EX2700 range extender compatible with Genexis DRG7820 router ?
I just got FTTH broadband which came with the above router. The wifi range wasn't great so I wanted to try an N300 range extender. Unfortunately, I just cannot get the range extender to connect to the router. The extenders own wifi is fine and I can connect devices to it but nothing will make it connect to router. I've tried WPS, the Installation assistant, manually entering everything, adjusting security protocols, factory resets, sacrificing a few goats, nothing works. I suspect there may just be some fundamental incompatibility somewhere. Connecting devices direct to the router over wifi is fine and I use exactly the same password in the extender settings so that's not the problem. It just won't connect. Oh, and I bought 2 of the extenders and neither will connect so it's not a hardware fault. Any other idea I could try ?

Hi jwob,
Look for firmware upgrade for extender by skipping setup during browser method and try to upgrade it manually. Did you tried security as WPA2 on your new router? Also, try changing wireless channel to see if that helps.Hope access control on new router is disabled which might not be the cause.

Thanks jvasanth1984
I tried some of the obvious settings on the router control panel but didn't look for any firmware upgrades. However, I my reconsidered my requirements and decided I'm going to disable the wifi completely on the router and run cat5 to a decent wifi access point in an optimum location. That should cover the whole house and eliminate the need for any extenders. So I've sent the N300s back to Amazon and will put the refund towards the WAP. Hopefully plan B will succeed !
Thanks for your help
