I've been trying to setup a new extender for two days

Glad I came across this.

I've been trying to setup a new extender for two days.

My old netgear extender is still showing up in my wireless list.  5GEXT AND 2GEXT

Can't get the new one to show on the list.

Using WPS button, so I guess the new one is buried behind my main network SSDI.

If so, how do I find the extender so I know its there?

Gotta be a way.

Thanks so much!

If the new extender is connected to the primary WiFi system, it will appear on the list of Attached Devices.  The MAC address should match a MAC address printed on the extender label and a connection to the IP address should bring up the extender web management interface.

Jumped on a conversation over a year old. Maybe start a new post with more details.

LIke what router you have, what extender you have, how you're setting it up, the errors you're getting, etc.

the more you tell us, the better we can help. And CrimpOn is correct in your routers attached devices list can help you find the extenders IP address.

  • Good afternoon,

The only way I could tell that the mesh extender was functioning (other than having all green lights) was the significant increase in signal strength I started receiving.  Other than that it appears to be invisible.  I don’t recall that the instructions pointed out that using the WPS buttons would mask it in this way.

For the record, here are my relevant stats:

    NETGEAR Modem/router

    AC1900 Cable Modem Voice Router

    Model C7100V

    NETGEAR Extender

    AX1800 4-Stream WiFi 6 Mesh Extender

    Model EAX15

I did check to see if the extender was listed as a new attached device but for some reason it does not show up.

    Cheers

The FCC filing for the EAX15 indicates there should be a label on the back of the product which contains the MAC address for both the 2.4G radio and the 5G radio:

    https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/PY320200496/4891176

Neither of these MAC addresses appear as "Attached Devices" on the C7100V router?

      Good morning,

The two MAC addresses do appear on the label on the back of the EAX15 extender.  Neither address is associated with an attached device on my router.  But, as expected, when I removed the EAX15 extender from the outlet my signal strength dropped considerably.  When I plugged the extender back into the outlet the signal strength returned to the higher value.  Ultimately, that's all I'm interested in.  Why it doesn't show as an attached device is a mystery to me.  As a novice I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot this issue.
