N300 doesn't recognize Ethernet cable

Just got and connected the N300 to my homes wifi but the device does not recognize the Ethernet cable I have plugged in. Is there some special way to connect this?

    Hi Daveyhankdank,

Can you please confirm which WiFi extender model you have that is N300? (WN3000RP, WN2000RPT, PR2000, etc)

Can you clarify what you are connecting to the other end of the ethernet cable?

What is your current network setup? (which router is connected (wired or wireless?) to the extender, what is connected to the extender, etc)

You can download the installation guides here:
    EX2700

    PR2000

    WN2000RPTv2

    WN3000RPv3

If your WiFi extender is setup as an Extender (rather than an Access Point), then do not connect the Extender to the router via Ethernet.

This doesn't work because it is as if your extender is giving internet to the router (which already has internet from your modem).

If your WiFi extender is setup as an access point, it is okay to ethernet it to the router, because now the router is giving internet to the Wifi extender.

    Here are some possible setups:

    Modem---(wire)---router - - - (WiFi) - - - (WiFi Extender in Extender mode) - - - (WiFi) - - - your electronics

    Modem---(wire)---router - - - (WiFi) - - - (WiFi Extender in Extender mode) ---(wire)--- your electronics

    or

Modem---(wire)---router---(wire)--- (WiFi Extender in Access Point mode) ---(wire)--- your electronics

    Modem---(wire)---router---(wire)--- (WiFi Extender in Access Point mode) - - - (WiFi) - - - your electronics

Also try other ethernet cables, in case the one you are using is broken.
