N300 EZ2700 Extender doesn't connect to router

Hi,

I cannot get my N300 EZ2700 Wifi Extender to connect to my router. I have tried the WPS method with the extender plugged in right beside the router, I have tried the manual meothd via mywifi....net. When I try the manual method the extender can "see" my wifi network and I enter the wifi network password and it appears to connect but the actual link between extender and router is never established.

I have updated the extender firmware to version 1.0.1.58.

My router is a Virgin Media Hub 3.0, VMDG500/CH7465LG-VM.
