N300 Model EX2700 I can't setup

Can someone please help an IT NOT!! geek!  My dad bought a N300 wifi range extender, it tells me to connect to my 'router'.  I have a sky Q box which I get my wifi on, is this what's called a Router?

 

Please help, thank you.  My Dad's daughter, Claire :)

    yes the sky Q box that you get your wifi on is the router. 

    I'd highly recommend a look at the support site if you're not a geek :). 

    It has walk through video's of setup using both WPS and the smart connection wizard, written guides, a manual, firmware, and troubleshooting.
