N600 with Arris Dg860 Cable Modem

Question

my isp replaced a defective cable modem with a Arris Dg860 and my N600 Router will not connect to the modem.. it does not get a dynamic IP address.. I can get a ip from the cable modem if I plug my pc directly into the modem as well as all other devices.. except the n600 router.. pulling what little hair I have left out of my head.. can someone please help?
