Netgear AC1200 Wifi Range Extender EX6150 - slow speed
Hi, We have just bought an extender as we were unable to receive any wifi connection at our backyard. With the netgear extender we are now receiving wifi connection at our backyard which is great but...

I was thinking that it will help extend the wifi connection to part of the house which had no connection at all. It has done that as now our back yard has connection but it is quite slow and some part of the backyard is still not receiving any connection. The current wifi router is downloading at a speed of 25Mbps and the extender is only downloading at 3Mbps. You are suggesting below to use it as an access point using an ethernet cord and that will give us the same speed as the wifi router?

Using it as an access point will improve the performance, but there's no guarantee your backyard will get the full ISP speed,
Still, if it is something that is easy for you to try, then it would be a good next step.

Yes with the access point we have had an improved performance. We are thinking of reallocating the wifi modem to a more central location as it's currently quite hidden in a very far away corner. We will see if the extender will best fit with an access point or just being an extender as we do have a power point just outside the patio (which leads to the backyard) which is about more likely 20 feet or more from the new wifi location.Thank you so very much for the advise will see how we go with the mix & match and see what's the best outcome :)
