netgear AC1900

I just bought this extender and following instructions to a tee. When I plug in the extender to find the wifi network, "Netgear_ext." it does not show up as one of the networks to connect to. It comes up with my main network and some local ones but not the one I need. Tried to uninstall and reinstall and still the same results. Any ideas what may be happening?

    If you had done the initial installation to a tee as you said, following the Nighthawk X4 AC1900 WiFi Range Extender User Manual and finished the installation as shown on p.11, ...

     

     

    ...so the result is predictable and expected for these Mesh extenders.
