Hi everyone, I have been through the setup process many times, but my extender just doesn't want to connect to my router on the 5GHz band. It will connect to and broadcast the 2.4GHz just fine an...

Aug 11, 2017I can get a solid 5GHz signal with my laptop in the exact location of the extender, so the 5GHz signal from the router is fine.

the laptop is using a diffrent antenna and position. which light on the extender is red. just b/c your laptop has a stong signal doesnt mean that something isnt blocking the signal behind a chair or through you. as the attenna in a laptop is normally in the sceen it tends to have more line of sight with the router than a extender plugged in the wall.

When I say the signal is red, this is what I am referring to. On the setup page, not the extender itself.

It could very well be a setting on my router that is not allowing the extender to connect to the 5GHz band, but I would not know where to start with changes. During the setup process, the extender gets a 100% signal from the 2.4GHz band and a 78% signal from the 5GHz band, so my guess is the signal isn't the issue. Wouldn't a 78% signal be enough for the extender to establish a connection?

Hello Estrange85
Are you using the fastlane settings in the extender it could be set to use 2.4ghz only from the router.
