NETGEAR EX8000 100EUS AC3000: AP or extender
Hi,
I bought the NETGEAR EX8000 100EUS AC3000. I already own a AP which is 2 year old, and can use one band, either 2.4 or 5 - but not both at the same time.
I am considering two options, replacing the AP with the new EX8000 as AP (hoping that all the house will be covered), or using the current AP with 5Ghz, and extending with the EX8000.
Which method will the EX8000 provide a faster internat connectioin, using as an AP or as an Extender.
Are all 3 bands used in both modes?
Thanks

Hi KS1000,
AP mode can provide better speed comparing to extender mode since distance between main source and devices will be more. In AP mode, you can use all 3 bands, but one wifi name or mesh is not applicable. But, in extender mode, you can use 2 bands only(2.4 and 5GHz) whereas the second 5GHz will be reserved for backhaul between extender and AP as dedicated line where you must have one wifi name enabled to utilize this.
