Netgear EX8000 X6S DOWNLOAD SPEED CUT IN HALF

So at my modem I'm getting 412mbs but at my triband EX8000 when I run the speed test it comes up with 155mbs any way to resolve my download speed issue

  • My RAX80 / AX8 and r7000 -- both showed that WAN port is capped at 500 MBPS which was half of my 940 mbps connection.

    What modem are you using?

What firmware is on your extender?

have you tested the speed on the extender with a hardwired device?

What speedtest are you running? App? hardwired? on which device?

i will have to check what firmware its running, i know yesterday it stated it was up to date

i have not tested the speed with a computer hard wired into it

i am testing it with the app that i downloaded to set it up. i ran the test on 3 different cell phones.

i ran the test with multiple things connected and with just 1 thing connected

the modem is one issued to us by spectrum. at the modem i have run a speed test hard wired and wireless and both test come with over 400 mbs

Try testing with a computer hardwired into it.

Reason I say this is that many things impact wireless speeds. And you're already starting with the extender away from the router so you'll take a bit of speed hit there. Add in a speed hit from using a different device and it can make troubleshooting worse.

Plus the EX8000 does band steering. So if you're on the 2.4ghz band, anything >100mbps is simply amazing.
