Netgear extender needing new password every day
Hi everyone,
Im having massive dramas with my netgear wifi extender all of a sudden. It was working fine and now every day it tells me the password is wrong and i have to go online and reset it before i can get it working. On top of this it seems to decide someone is the admin person (different each day) and askes them to share the password with the other person even though the password isnt working on either device.
Has there been some change in software i wasnt aware off? Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it?
Thanks in advance!

What firmware are you on?
What router are you connecting to?
have you tried re-installing the firmware? it wouldn't be the first time something was corrupted. Factory resetting only erases the settings but it doesn't re-install the firmware.
another thing you can check, is if there's another wireless extender broadcasting the same. I ran into an issue where someone was connecting to their neighbors extender and making changes.
- burgirhigAspirantSorry - really non techie here, is firmware my computers protection software? If yes i have McAfee but not sure I under how that would affect the phones connected to the extender?
The router is the standard IInet one and it’s actually plugged into to it (Ethernet cable) as the signal really doesn’t reach anywhere we can plug the extender in. Also the computer has its own Ethernet cable so though I can unplug it and connect it to the wireless I always get good signal because I have to wfh and find wireless a little inconsistent.
On the internet - it shows up as my internet name with -ext on the end and all my neighbours are on Telstra so not even remotely close in name so I don’t think I could be mixing it up.

Firmware is the coding that runs the extender. If you log into the extender, it'll list the firmware on its status page.
What model router is it? an actual model number.
Are you saying that you've ran a ethernet cord to the extender from your router? I'm just a bit confused by this.
