netgear trek used as a range extender

Have tried to use the Trek as a range extender. Can log in and go thru the process of finding the wifi I want to extend, put in all information including passphrase and then go to apply and nothing happens. Total lost

    Hi urshadow,

    Please reset the PR2000 extender back to factory defaults

    Use the end of a paper clip or a similar object to press and hold the Reset button for at least seven seconds.

    The Trek resets, and returns to the factory configuration settings.

    If possible, move the PR2000 extender into the same room as the WiFi Router.

    We are going to try and wire the PR2000 to your Router then run a wire from your PR2000 to your computer. Then upgrade the PR2000 to the latest firmware.

    After the firmware upgrade, we can set it up as you'd like.

    Power on your extender by setting it to Wired mode.

    Then connect an ethernet cord from your computer to your extender's yellow port.

    Disable any other internet connections on your computer. Have your computer connected to only the extender.

    Then connect an ethernet cord from your Router to your extender's blue port.

    Open a web browser and go to routerlogin.net to finish your setup.

    Once setup is complete, visit routerlogin.net

    login with the credentials:

    user = admin

    password = password

    then check to see which firmware version is on your PR2000 extender. Update the version to 1.0.0.14

    Now after the firmware update, set up your range extender as you'd like (wired or wireless).
    See the reference manual: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/PR2000/PR2000_UM_Non-Cellular%20Version_09Apr2014.pdf

  • Did all the above. Firmware was up to date. Try ed again and only difference was it never asked for a password to log in. Will connect as hot spot, but not a range extension

      Hi urshadow,

      If you are able to set up hotspot, please login to mywifiext.net and factory reset through the web interface.

      Navigate to Advanced, Administration, Backup Settings then select Revert to factory default settings.

      In the settings page, you can also re-flash the firmware version 1.0.0.14

      Download the zip file from http://support.netgear.com/product/PR2000

      Unzip the img file and upload it to the firmware settings page
