network drops :(

Ok so i have 5 machines connecting wirelessly through a WNR2200 and 1 machine wired to a cable modem. everyone connecting without wires notices significant drops in connection speed and network strength this can happen when only one person is connected or when everyone is online.
the machines connecting are a mix of makes and models with various incarnations of windows installed. the router is set to default on everything except security and SSID and has the most recent firmware upgrade
.if anyone can give me any suggestions on how to stabilize the network i would be grateful.

  • ok so inSSIDer shows no interference on channel or even wavelength?
  • make sure router itself is not sitting close cordless phone base station or emitting devices
  • there is no obvious source of interference tv is approximatly 1.5m away otherwise no cordless phone microwave or anything else i can think of that emits on a similar frequency.

also i should say thanks for actually taking the time to answer this question!!
  • update am now getting noteable varience in Amplitude not sure if this is relevent but the 2.4ghz graph is showing multiple networks overlapping my own, Whilst the time graph is showing sharp peaks and troughs for my network.
  • if same location has not caused any issues and there isn't any significant channel issues then you may could have wireless going bad

I would hard reset the route and see (see router reset on my sig below)

if the unit is still under warranty then you may want to contact support my.netgear.com
