Nighthawk AD7200 and remote access point
Looking to provide more coverage in my house. I only want one network so I purchased a Nighthawk X10 AD7200 and a Nighthawk AC1900 range extender. I set the extender up as an access point downstairs and the AD7200 upstairs. I set the SSID up to be the same on both, hoping that I could go from one to the other without interruption. Well that is not the case, I can be on one or the other but they do not seem to cross from one to the other. Any insight on how to make this work properly?

- When it comes to most consumer grade networking hardware, the device usually decides when to make a switch. The problem is that most devices tend to be very sticky when it comes to switching. Some brands are gradually adding more controls, like minimum RSSI, transmit power and support for 802.11r/k/v but these are not yet common.
Without these controls, about the only thing you can do is to move the router and range extender FARTHER apart in order to minimize the overlap of the two Wi-Fi signals. This will encourage the device to switch earlier. Of course, you don't want to move them too far apart. Otherwise, you will create a dead zone in between. You will simply have to experiment with placement.
