Nighthawk EX7300 x4 will not Factory reset no extender wifi

I am trying to reconfigure my extender to my second floor. It has not worked properly for all devices. I realized we needed the "one name" option for the TV service (AT&T Uverse) to auto-switch. When I reconfigured, it did not go as expected. I can't go back into the Admin panel to make any changes, because now that the network is the same name, it is not appearing in my wifi network selections as "netgear_ext" any longer. I must have missed a network setting or something on the reconfig.

I can't use an ethernet cable, because I do not have an adapter to hook up to any of my devices. I can only use wifi, and my windows and iOs devices will not display the extender network. I did all of the clearing of the cache and tried all sorts of browsers IP addresses, and devices, and I can't login anywhere.

I tried doing the factory reset, but I do not detect any changes, even though I did see the "amber" light display after the green. Should I start over with a new model? I think there is a warranty, it is only 45 days old.

I have spent many hours on this, and it looks so simple at first glance. I admit I am not a telecommunications expert, I am just trying to boost a bad signal in my old house to the 2nd floor. I have the fast internet service AT&T sells, and I have tried other service providers as well. I have tried many other extender brands, and I thought buying a more expensive model would do the trick.

  • Hi kjshan,

If you have successfully reset the extender and gone through the setup, this link may help out in enabling the One WiFi Name feature.

Try holding the reset longer (not stopping as soon as you see amber).  The extender should restart and show you netgear_ext again.  If it isn't doing that, then the reset didn't work.

You have 90 days of phone support, you can contact Netgear support at my.netgear.com.  If you didn't register your product, register it first and upload the proof of purchase.

If the unit is defective, you can get a replacement from support.  Though if you can still exchange it with the seller, that might be faster.  So maybe do that if you can, and if you have still have trouble with the replacement you can contact support.

Thanks! A little more patience and the 4th time the reset worked. I still don’t have the “one WiFi” name config working, but will check other posts.
