Nighthawk Mesh MR-60, firmware update broke Chromecast

I purchased an MR60 Mesh router recently. Setup went smoothly and everything worked fine, until a firmware upgrade to v1.0.4.98.
Prior to the upgrade, my Google Chromecast device worked perfectly. Immediately after the upgrade, it would connect to my wireless network, but phones or laptops can no longer communicate with it.
I raised a support ticket, suspecting that the upgrade has introduced access point isolation that I cannot find a way to disable.
The support ticket was answered promptly, but after asking if I had access control turned on, all they did was refer me to the product documentation. That was on 16th Aug. The case remains open and I’ve requested an update every couple of days for the last two weeks without a response.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or such an disgraceful lack of support from Netgear? I suspect they’re simply wasting time until my support term expires, so they can close the case... I’ll never buy Netgear again and will be recommending to anyone who’ll listen to do likewise.

  • Yeah, same issue... Looks like if my devices are connecting via router and not satellites, all is good, but if not, they are unable to cast to Chromecast. I was told to do facory reset on Chromcast - that didnt help.

I too have a MR-60 and 2 x satellites and we have the same problem. We stream from mutliple devices, to multiple chromecasts and it's "unreliable".

It seems that if the streaming devices is connected to the router, it works, but if connected to either staellite - it doesnt.

I've tried Many of the suggested solutions on various forums but none of them work.

I'm real happy with the netgear mesh. Bought it (as compared to the google nest stuff) becuase I need more ocnfigurability (Port forwarding and address resvervations) - but now it's beginning to look like a bad decisions to go Netgear...

  • Hi

I'm also having the same issue. I performed factory reset on the Chromecast several times and sure enough it didn't work. There's definitely AP isolation even with Upnp turned on.

    Need a fix!

So, after so many weeks, trying every poissible setting, rebooting multiple times, I finally caved in, and ordered TPLink Deco model from Costco... Guess what? Everything is working normal with all my Google units.

  • I have the Nighthawk MK62 Bundle (1 MR60 router, 1 MS60 satellite) running firmware V1.0.6.102_2.0.45. I, like everyone else was having issues with my Google casting devices. What ended up working for me was to uncheck "Disable IGMP Proxying". Ever since I did that everything has been running smoothly. I hope this will help someone out here.

Did a quick walkaround test of the mesh and connected-disconnected-reconnected every streaming device. Might be on to a winning solution here! Thank you.
