Nighthawk X4

I'm not a techie so I don't know about firmware, OS or environment.  But here's the issue.  We recently put  a TV on our patio using a Roku Express attached to recieve the wireless signal.  We had a connection but had a weak signal so we would frequently drop the wireless connection or would get buffering.  So I bought a Netgear Nighthawk X4 EX7300 wifi extender to boost the signal.  It's done a great job of doing that, but now the Roku says it's connected to the wireless network but not to the internet. I read some earlier posts related to Rokus having this issue and one said to change to Channel 11.  I have no idea what that means.

Any ideas why and what I need to do to correct this?

Thanks!!

You don't put what router you're using. Usually if you're using it in extender mode, you have to change the channel on the router.  (unless the extender is in AP mode) Log into your routers settings and I'd recommend channels 1-6-11 for the 2.4ghz. If you're roku has 5ghz and it reaches with the ex7300, I'd use those channels. Much higher bandwidth. It doesn't penetrate as well. If there's a way to setup a directly line of sight from the ex7300 to the roku, that'd be best. wifi goes through glass very well but will struggle if your house walls have foil lined insulation, cement, brick, cement board, it'll do a great job of blocking signals.

here's the manual for the ex7300 veresion 1. use the drop down box to select if you have a different version.

When you say router, are you referring to the router supplied by the cable company  (which happens to be Spectrum) or do you mean the wifi extender?  Because the router has no info on it except for the labels applied by Spectrum/Charter, which give the wifi adress and password, the seriel # a MAC # and log-in info. So I don't know a make or model number. But I logged in and checked the routers settings and didn't see anyplace where I could change channels or that even mentioned channels.

As it turns out, the Rokus weren't the only issue.  Our phones started acting funky too and loading really slow, if it at all.

For something that looked to be pretty much plug-n-play, this is tuning out to be a PITA!!  So I did a factory reset and the extender is now unplugged and setting on my desk.

Thanks for your reply and I'll see what I can figure out.

Some more info that might be helpful; all of our devices (phones and Rokus) say we have a Excellent wifi signal, but no internet connection. And after doing some more reading about this, it sounds like this is a common problem when using Spectrum routers.
