Not connected to 5GHz - is this important? How to solve?
Hi.
Finally got the extender connected to the net by resetting/rebooting it. However I'm told on my Netgear account that I'm not connected to 5GHz, only 2.4GHz. Is this important? And how do I go about sorting this out? I followed all the set up instructions exactly. I'm now back to being confused.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

remember 5.0 and 2.4 are different band widths. 5.0 allows faster send , revieve trasmitions but doesnt transmitt as far or as strong as 2.4. When planning placement of extenders or access points use a wifi analyser on your phone a - 40 is best signal and work from there- . E.m.f (electro magnetic fields ) ie refrigerators cyling electric ranges interfer with siganls as well as other wifi objects depending on the channels hand how close in frequency they are . (bleed overs). walk around your house using the wifi analyzer , look for best piont in your to repeat the wifi. it should over lap, like 2 circles intersecting but not covering each other totally, just a bit
