Painful Set Up Process

Hi Netgear Community,

Hoping that reaching out with this issue will lead to a solution and end the painful setup process with Netgear. For context, my wifi works to ~40 feet (estimate for illustrative purposes) from the router, I bought a Netgear extender (set up went smoothly), but the extender range is less than the 40 feet of my original wifi network (which makes no sense to me). For example, the extender works great if I keep it very close (10 feet or less) from the router, but if I move the extender to ~20 feet from the router, I no longer get wifi (even though the Router Link LED is GREEN). Any help would be greatly appreciated (unfortunately calling customer service did not help).

Thank you

What is your interior walls made? Materials matter big time with wifi. Certain ones like brick, concrete, plaster lathe, adobe, foil lined insulation can all do a great job of blocking wifi. In those cases, usually extenders don't help as they need a good signal to function off of.
