Powerline PL1000 1GBps not reaching anywhere farther than a single room away
I had just gotten a Netgear Powerline PL1000 today to create a stable connection from one side of the house to the other. The distance is not far at all (good enough for a full wifi connection). I tested it in the room with the router and it connects immediately and with a Green LED. I go to the kitchen right outside that room and the LED is then Red. I then move to my room which is across from the Kitchen and the Light doesn't even turn on. I know you guys mentioned the circuitry could be messing with the connection, though that's highly unlikely in this case. I don't know why it's not working but it's definitely frustrating, as even a basic WiFi connection can reach farther. I have tried several plugs and the result remains the same which points at the distance. I have read other inquiries on this site and have seen when it's mentioned that range should not be a problem, though it seems obvious that is the case in this situation, as the light works and has a stronger connection the closer I get. Is there really nothing else I can do? I may have to end up returning it.
You might end up having to return it. not all homes work well with powerline due to how many things can add interference. this could be arc fault circuits, gfci circuits, surge protectors, high draw appliances, bad/poorly wired electronics, even the wiring iteself can cause issues. or poor/cheap cell phone charges. The test to see if the powerline device is working properly is to set it up on the same circuit. which you did and it worked fine. So you're home might not be ideal for powerline or you might need to do some investigating of the home/appliances/devices plugged in.
