Router won,t stay connected

I have an extender (model EX6100). When it's on the WPS light is solid green, as is the power light. When I try to connect to one of the ext networks, the client light is solid green, but the router link is just dark. When I try to connect to the web, I get this mysterious log in prompt that looks like it is from either the site I'm trying to access or an ad server. I tried to reset, and set-up the network again...but the reset doesn't seem to take. Nothing changes. I also tried reconnecting the WPS in the same room as the router. The router light came on for a few seconds, then went dark again.

At a loss.

  • According to the manual, a solid green WPS light just means that the extender is using WPA/WPA2 security.  The dark router link is definitely a problem.  It means the extender isn't making a connection to the router.

Make sure the Access Point/Extender switch is in the Extender position.  In the Access Point position, the extender won't try to connect to the router via Wi-Fi.

Connect to the extender's ext network and point your browser at mywifiext.net.  This should connect you to the extender's web portal.  Proceed to connect the extender to your router's Wi-Fi network.

If this doesn't work, then try a factory reset.  Insert a paper clip into the Factory Reset hole and hold it until the Power LED blinks amber.  Then release it.  Wait for the Power LED to turn green (about 30 to 40 seconds).  Then try mywifiext.net again.
