Setup is different from what manual has

I am trying to connect my WiFi range extender using the NETGEAR genie Smart Setup.  When I launch a web browser and enter www.mywifiext.net in the address field I get a prompt to create an account (email, password, 2 security questions/answers).   This is different from what is in the manual.   I do not want to create an account.   Why is it doing this and can I get arround it?
