Trying to add a second NETGEAR EX2700

I have twoEX2700 WiFi extenders - trying to use one downstairs and the other upstairs. I have a router that enables me to see both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz configuration.

Ive followed the extender userguide - and using WPS button presseses the extender has found the 2.4 GHz network (why id this - and not the 5GHz varient?)

Wilst this is ok - and I have the extender now (with its _EXT) in use - I have tried the same exercise with the one upstairs - pushing the WPS buttons - and it doesnt seem to connect, even though the LED's on the front panel are all green?  Ive looked at the router hub and it sees the second device but marks it as "not connected" - why might this be?

First off, the EX2700 is a single band extender. You won't be able to see 5ghz because there isn't a 5ghz radio.

so just to clarify. the one extender works and the other one doesn't?

What firmware is on the non-working extender?

Are you making sure your names are different for your extenders?

Have you tried logging into the nonworking extender to try manually setting it up? Sometimes the manual setup works when the wps doesn't.

here's the support page for your device. it has manuals, firmware, etc.

      Hi there - ok - re 5GHz - fine...

so just to clarify. the one extender works and the other one doesn't?

      ------- YES - correct

What firmware is on the non-working extender?

----no idea - how would I find that out?

Are you making sure your names are different for your extenders?

------Have changed the name for the second - but hasnt made a difference. When I set up the first it automatically added the _EXT to the WIFI network name?

Have you tried logging into the nonworking extender to try manually setting it up?

---when I login into http://www.mywifiext.net it gives me the details of the one that is visible. I've tried the "Smart Setup" facility  - thi seems to show the wifi networks and nott he extender?

Sometimes the manual setup works when the wps doesn't.

So take an ethernet cord and connect a computer and the extender together.

Shut off the wifi on the computer so you know you're connected to that specific extender.

        Then try the mywifiext.net

You can setup a static ip address for each extender within your router that way you can use that ip address to access the extender. When you only have one extender the mywifiext.net works fine but when you add a second device, accessing them from a set IP address will be easier.
