Unable to reconnect to wifi extender WN3000RPv3

My wifi extender had been working fine the past couple of years and it just stopped connecting two days ago for some reason. I rebooted the extender a couple of times (and my router) and was able to log into www.mywifiext.net after several attempts and establish a new password, etc. through "New Extender Setup." When it finally seemed like I was able to resolve the issue "You are not connected to your extender's WiFi network" came up on the screen (once again).
