WIFI Extender needed
Looking to add a WIFI extender to my router. I have it located in the middle of my house and need to extend the range about ten feet to the edge of my garage. i bought a the NETGEAR WIFI AC1200 extender but it is not compatible with my router,
What should I be using instead. I am not a techie guy.
but any help is better than no help.

The extenders are universal, at least when the common WPA2-PSK is used, and the regulatory area for the router and extender are matching, so the extender (and all Wi-Fi devices) is able to deal with the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels configured on both units.
Let us know where the idea is coming from your router should not be compatible. Make and model of the router?

the Nighthawk app says that is is not compatible with the extender i had purchased.
I just need to know which one is compatible with my Nighthawk x4s ac2600 WIFI router.
i have read a couple of other community conversations and don't want to get the wrong one.

Be a little bit more informative which Netgear Extender - the model is certainly on the product label - should not be compatible with the Nighthawk App.

This would be an example of product designation we can work with. Now back to this unknown AC1200 Extender. Note: Apps are not the center of the universe. Every Netgear extender can be installed using "Connect with WPS " or "Connect with the NETGEAR Installation Assistant" - no fancy app required.
Head to https://www.netgear.com/support/ - type in the model number or the product designation and you get access to the Product Data Sheet, the Installation Guide, and last but not lest the User Manual.
