Wired backhaul Mesh with R7800 and EX8000
I have one R7800 as my router and have a second AP using the EX8000, connected over Ethernet to the R7800. Currently the R7800 and EX8000 are using "different" SSID's!
Is it possible to have the EX8000 connected to the R7800 wired over etherned (wired backhaul), using the same SSID for both devices and having Mesh functionality (handover from one device to the other)???
This is refered to as "wired backhaul" and I know there are a few postings in this forums asking the +/- same question, unfortunately Netgear "never" answered to the questions...

the "mesh" function only works in wireless extender mode.
But you can set the ssid's the same. Devices might be a little sticky but if the device is new enough, it should still roam on its own.
Have you tried that?
