Wireless router and 2 Wifi extenders

I have a netgear G-range wireless router connected to my TWC modem in my upstairs loft. Downstairs, I have an extender and another one in my wife's office. I am not sure why, but I can't get a good signal to either of the wifi extenders. I have taken each one up to the router and plugged them into it directly and configured the settings, but as soon as I take them back to their respective spots in my house, they barely get a signal. My house is only 2,180 sq. feet and only has an upstairs and downstairs. Can anyone provide a solution, hint, or recommend a product to use in place of the 2 extenders and the one router?

  • I found the model numbers of the devices I have in play:

    Router: WGR614v10

    1st Extender: WN2500RP

    2nd Extender: WN2500RPv2

They don't communicate well and I am not sure why.

      Hello hughveal

A couple things can be causing issues if your kitchen is in between the router and the extender that can cause issues with all the big appliances the walls of your house if they have a lot of metal in them can cause issues. Or if there is a lot of wifi noise in the area such as neighbors networks or cordless phones. What you can do is set your router to the best channel for your environment. If you have a android phone we have a app called Netgear wifi anaylitics this will tell you the best channel to use. also you want to place your extender in the middle of where you want to get signal and the router. I have linked a article on this.

I have moved both extenders to various areas within the house, downstairs. I have even brought both extenders in the same room as the router and reconfigured all configurable options. What I decided to do was order a set of Netgear Powerline Adapters and try my luck with them. If that doiesn't work, I am not sure what I will do.
