WN2000RPTv2 connection issues

make sure to use WPA2 encryption

I'm using WPA2-AES. The main router is a 2wire 802.11b/g DSL unit from ATT. There are quite a few nearby WiFi networks, and the I'm using CH1 because the closer neighbors are using channels 6 and 11.

All the settings in the Netgear extender match those of the main router, but no joy on internet access. Are there any othe settings that would be helpful to know?

OK. I'll put 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as the DNS servers on the laptop's network settings when I get home and see if that works. That wouldn't seem to affect the extender's inability to access the internet (to check for firmware updates), would it?

you can always go to support.netgear.com to find latest firmware as well

Adding the Google DNS servers didn't change anything. The Win7 laptop is connected to the network and the Home Group, but it still can't access the internet.

We also tried an iPad through the extender and it would start to load a webpage, then it stopped with a meessage that the server had stopped responding.

It seems that the internet is reachable but there's almost no throughput and/or the connection keeps breaking. I'm going to see if I can get anywhere with NetGear tech support.

I thought this would be easy. mywifiext.net is mythical. Doesn't exist. Not sure why that website is even listed in the installation guide. I can get the extender to work but 3 weeks of trying to get it secure has failed. The netgear genie shows up (only one time and it too has gone by the wayside) but I can get about halfway through the setup and it freezes and then quits. I'm on an iMac but have also tried using windoze.

I'm trying 1 more day and then I'm switching to another brand. 3 weeks of trying has taken it's toll.

Pour une bonne installation, les informations fournies dans le manuel sont efficaces (personnellement, j'ai choisi de garder mon reseau avec l'extension _EXT, soit.... MONRESEAU_EXT), Il suffit de les valider jusqu'à la page où il vous est demandé de fournir le niveau d'encryption, la Phrase d'authentification et les clés...
A ce niveau, il faut choisir le même niveau d'encryption que celui enseigné lors de l'installation de votre box (64 ou 128 bits).
Il ne faut pas indiquer de phrase d'authentification.
Puis vous indiquez le même mot de passe ou, le cas échéant, la clé wep réseau de votre box.
Ensuite, vous cliquer sur continuer.
Un message vous demandera d'entrer à nouveau votre mot de passe/clé wep du réseau. Il suffit d'entrer le mot de passe ou clé wep indiqué précédemment.
Et vous devriez avoir 3 voyants verts qui s'allument, sur l'amplificateur, en plus du voyant WPS... indiquant votre connexion sur le réseau amplifié.
C'est fait.
