wn2500rp won't connect to FiOS G1100

Hello,

I recently upgraded to a FiOS Quantum (G1100) router.  WiFi reception in my home is poor (older home w/ a lot of brick and lathe) so I need (and have been using) a Netgear WN2500RP to provide WiFi coverage throughout my home.  I had no issue connecting it with my previous FiOS router (MI424WR) and except for an occassional drop in network communication, it worked great.  However for some reason, I cannot successfully connect the WN2500RP to my new FiOS Quantum Router (G1100).  I am able to connect (via Ethernet) to the WN2500RP from my desktop (Mac Mini) and pull pull up the Netgear Genie (BTW, Genie opens without requiring me to 'login' to the range extender) and the Genie finds the G1100 signals (both 2.4 and 5GHz) , however it will not accept the password I've entered, and I know it is correct (i.e. I've used the same password to connect other devices including my iPhone, iPad, and my NordicTrack treadmill to the G1100 wifi).

I have also tried to use the WPS to connect.  After pressing the WPS button on the G1100, I press the WPS button on the WN2500RP.  Both devices "blink" away, but the connection is never established.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • BRIEF UPDATE -

I was able to get my WN2500RP to connect to my new FiOS G1100 through the G1100 interface (initiated WPS for the G1100 through software, WN2500RP through HW). The WPS light on the WN2500RP is a solid green and the G1100 is showing a solid white.

Per Netgear documentation, 2 new SSID are listed using the naming convention of the G1100 SSID with "-5G_2GEXT" and "-5G_5GEXT".  Now the problem is I don't know the default passwords for these new SSID's and I can't seem to login to the WN2500RP to change the passwords (http://www.mywifiext.net results in error saying "you are not connected to you extenders wifi network"

  • One thing I forgot to mention.  Even though it appears a communication connection has been established between the two devices, my WN2500RP is not listed in "My Network" on the Verizon Router interface.
