Hi btmblue,
Look for firmware upgrade if any and if issue persist, try to reset and reconfigure extender and see if that resolve your issue. Hope, you have set a better channel and no interference devices nearby as well as no much obstacles in your environment.

I updated to firmware V1.0.1.52_1.0.66 and still have to restart my extender at least once per day. I have not been able to find any help on the Netgear websites in regard to this issue. My WiFi router is also an N600 Netgear and I have access control setup on it but not on the extended. I only have 2.4 GHz enabled on the extender and on the router yet still I have to restart the extender regularly. I only have 3 pieces of equipment connected to it, 2 iPhones and a Ring video doorbell, everything else in my Connected home is attached to the WiFi router. Any help is appreciated.
