I have the N300 wireless range extender.  Can I use multiple range extenders to extend my wifi to other rooms in the house?  Or do multiple range extenders cancel each other out?  Also, are their Netgear WIFI range extender models in the 2.4 mhz band that have greater throughput for faster internet speeds?

  • You can use multiple extenders but they should all connect to the main router.  Do not wirelessly connect one extender to another; performance will likely be unsatisfactory because there is a 50% performance penalty through each extender.  What you can do, however, is wire two extenders together.  One will operate as an Access Point.

In the 2.4 GHz band, there are generally 2 classes of extenders: N300 and N450.  Only higher-end, 3x3 stream client devices (like a Macbook Pro) can take advantage of the N450 class extender.  Most devices will see it as an N300 extender.
