Is the BT Hub using the same network name and passphrase as your old router?

I've never been a fan of WPS myself.
You could
- Reconfigure the hub to match your old network and passphrase
- Connect to the extender wifi (or ethernet). Browse to mywifiext.net and manually change the router connection name and password.
- Reset the extender, and set it up again from scratch
